In the southernmost area of France, the Roussillon vineyards are planted on a well structured plain surrounded by hillsides with a wide range of soil types. To the North is the Corbières region, to the East the Mediterranean, the Albères hills to the south and the Pyrenees mountain range rising to the West. Located near the village of Canet en Roussillon (Pyrénées-Orientales), 10 kilometres east of Perpignan, the Château de Rey vineyard overlooks a string of Mediterranean maritime lakes at an average altitude of 15 metres. Under the impressive profile of the Canigou, it covers forty hectares on the stony slopes of several valleys of the Aspres foothills. The vines grow in dry, well drained soils which oblige the roots to dig deep down to source nutritional elements.
The château has been run by four generations of same family of enthusiastic wine producers on this demanding, unique terroir. Constantly improving their methods, they benefit from the rich experience and wisdom gained over the years, respectful of traditions which they associate with bold innovation.
