Château de Caraguilhes, Classique rouge 2018
A silky attack with notes of black fruits and burlat cherry which underlines the robust quality of the wine. The tannins contribute a good structure which reinforces the balanced quality of the wine. The wine is fresh and zesty, a modern expression of our Terroir. This is a full-bodied wine, with a remarkably long finish. Gold medal at Millesime BIO.

The Château de Caraguilhes is located on the Boutenac terroir, one of the highly reputed properties of the Languedoc and the Corbières appellation. The domaine was created by Cistercian monks. The vineyard covers 100 adjacent hectares, surrounded by 500 hectares of Mediterranean scrubland. This garrigue forms a beautiful natural amphitheatre which protects the vines. A property which has never been broken up over the centuries, Caraguilhes has always preserved its integrity and authenticity. Centuries later, in 1958, Lionel Faivre, a wine producer in Algeria, took over Caraguilhes with the aim of maintaining the tradition of the Château by producing authentic wines which reflect the terroir's potential and particular style. Lionel was a pioneer and transformed the vineyard to organic culture, introducing maintainable cultural techniques. His refusal to use chemical fertilisers, herbicides and insecticides was not understood at that time. Nearly 30 years later he completed the transformation of Caraguilhes by adopting exclusively organic methods for the culture of the vineyard. In 1998, Lionel, no longer able to manage Caraguilhes, took the decision to sell his vineyard. Having met Pierre Gabison and an associate, he was convinced that their partnership would be capable of developing the tradition and the philosophy which had inspired the quality of the property's organic production begun 40 years previously. In 2005, Pierre Gabison, enthusiastic about the wines of Caraguilhes and the surrounding region, took over the direction of the domaine. He is keen, today, to develop the passion at the heart of the property's vineyard and wines.
