Product Description

The Domaine de Martinolles has been run by the same family for the last three generations and is situated near Saint-Hilaire, cradle of the Blanquette de Limoux producing area, 15 kms from the Cité of Carcassonne.

Surrounded by vines, olive trees and heath land, this magnificent domaine stretches over a valley which is exposed to the sun from all sides.

The Vergnes family has a particular attachment to the emblematic and historic Limoux grape variety, the Mauzac which is the major element of their Blanquette de Limoux blends.

As early as 1349, the king's lieutenant for the Languedoc, Guillaume de Flavecourt,

took mesures to prevent the plantation of grape varieties other than those used traditionally for white wines and banned the blending of wines from elsewhere to preserve the quality of the local production.

The Mauzac is particularly well adapted to the domaine's clay and limestone soils and develops a mineral, soft, rounded style.
